Foe In the Mirror Part 2: Grand Theft Dragonzord

Rita Repulsa sat upon her throne, the Green Chaos Crystal resting upon her lap as her fingers tracing its jagged edges. The dark energy within it swirled, crackling with ominous power. The glow from the crystal bathed the lair in an eerie, sickly light. She could feel the raw strength coursing through her, filling the space around her with a potent, malevolent hum.

In her hands, she held the Dragon Dagger replica she had crafted—a weapon designed to control the Dragonzord. As she regarded it, a slow, sinister smile crept across her lips. This would be her weapon to undermine the Rangers, to strike a blow at their pride, and ultimately, to begin the unravelling of their unity.

Scorpina stood at attention, awaiting her orders. Her eyes flickered with anticipation as she eyed the Dragon Dagger, ready for the chaos it would surely bring. Goldar, ever by Rita's side, observed the scene with his usual stoic expression, though a hint of curiosity showed in his eyes.

"Scorpina," Rita's voice was smooth, dangerous. "This Dragon Dagger is your key to the Dragonzord. Use it. Control it. And bring the Rangers to their knees. I want them to feel the terror of their own creations turning against them. The city will crumble beneath its feet, and the Rangers will be forced to scramble to salvage whatever little is left of their pride."

Scorpina took the Dragon Dagger with reverence, her fingers curling around the hilt as she held it up. "Consider it done, Rita. The Dragonzord will be mine."

Rita's smile grew wider, but deep inside, she couldn't shake the nagging thought that her plan wasn't likely to achieve much more than some property damage. She wasn't under any illusion that the Rangers would be defeated by this stunt. Oh, she knew they'd come back, eventually retrieve their precious Dragonzord, and continue their fight.

But that wasn't the point.

The real damage would come in the form of what would be left behind—the damage to their reputation, their unity. With the Green Ranger still new and not entirely trusted by his teammates, this attack would plant the seeds of doubt. Her hope was that the uncertainty surrounding Tommy Oliver's allegiance would fester, especially when his own Zord was used to attack the very city he vowed to protect. If she could drive a wedge between him and the other Rangers, they would be vulnerable.

Rita knew this plan wasn't going to crush the Rangers in one blow, but it would be enough to shake their confidence. The seeds of mistrust were already sown, and if she nurtured them just a little more, the Green Ranger's role in the team would become even more complicated. That's where the real victory lay—undermining their unity, even if the Dragonzord was reclaimed in the end.

She turned her attention back to Scorpina, her gaze sharp. "Go. Unleash chaos upon the city. Make them fear you. The Rangers will be forced into action, and while they waste time on damage control, we'll have them exactly where we want them."

Scorpina nodded, her eyes glinting with the promise of destruction. "It will be done."

Rita turned to Goldar, her voice suddenly cool and calculating. "I know this may not end the way we want it to, Goldar. They'll get their Zord back eventually. I'm not fool enough to think otherwise. But it will shake them. It will make them question themselves. And most importantly, it will make the Green Ranger question himself."

Goldar grunted, his usual doubt tempered by a hint of understanding. "So you plan to use the damage to their city... and their morale... against them."

Rita's lips curled into a sardonic smile. "Exactly. The Green Ranger still hasn't proven himself to everyone. He's an unknown element in the team, and this will make him the focus of their doubts. When the dust settles, we'll see if the Rangers are still united or if cracks begin to show."

Her mind was already turning to the next phase of her plan. "In the end, we'll find a way to use that uncertainty to our advantage. I'll have Tommy on my side before long. He just doesn't know it yet."

As she spoke, she felt the power of the Green Chaos Crystal surge through her once again. There was a certainty in her mind, even if the plan itself seemed more of a gamble. But there was no question in her heart—this time, she would win. Not with sheer force, but with the slow, subtle erosion of everything the Rangers believed in.

Behind her, Scorpina readied the Dragon Dagger, prepared to unleash chaos upon Angel Grove. Rita's eyes lingered on the distant viewing globe as she plotted her next move. She would break the Rangers, piece by piece, until there was nothing left but dust. And from that dust, she would rise.

"Goldar," she called, her voice dark and commanding, "prepare the Putties. We need to make sure the Rangers don't get complacent. They will be distracted, but they won't be easy to finish off. We need them out in the open."

Goldar, ever loyal, snapped to attention. "Yes, Rita. I'll have the Putties prepared for deployment immediately."

As Rita watched Scorpina prepare to lead the charge with the Dragonzord under her control, she smiled inwardly, certain that this battle would plant the seeds for something far more devastating. Even if the Rangers regained their Zord, and managed to save Angel Grove, the damage would have been done.

"Will that do?" Rita asked, more to herself than anybody else; her mind already moving forward to what she would do next.

Goldar's voice was respectful, yet filled with his usual caution. "My Queen, you've outdone yourself with this one. They won't see it coming."

But before Rita could respond, a voice—almost familiar, but utterly disembodied—spoke again, low and smooth, as though it had always been there, lurking just below the surface of her thoughts.

"It's a good start, Rita. But you'll need more than this to truly crush them."

Rita's eyes narrowed, a knowing smile crossing her face. The voice was not one of her minions, nor any voice she had expected to hear. But she didn't flinch. She was accustomed to strange things happening when the Green Chaos Crystal was involved. If it had brought this voice into her realm, she would use it to her advantage.

She chuckled darkly, her mind racing ahead, already anticipating the next stage of her grand scheme.

"More than this, you say?" she muttered under her breath. "We'll see."

As Scorpina prepared to strike, Rita knew that, in the end, this would not be the final battle. But it was a perfect beginning. And once the Rangers' world was cracked open, it would never be the same again.

====

The clinking of glasses and upbeat chatter filled the air at the Juice Bar, a familiar haven for the Power Rangers. Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, and Kimberly were gathered at their usual table, laughing and enjoying a rare moment of peace. The day had been uneventful, and for once, they could almost forget about their duties as Rangers.

But the calm was short-lived.

Kimberly sipped her smoothie, glancing around the room. "You know, this is nice. It feels like we haven't had a break in forever."

Zack grinned. "Yeah, it's good to just kick back for a change. Too bad we can't have more days like this."

Trini nodded. "Agreed. It's nice to pretend we don't have a crazy villain plotting world domination every other day."

But their brief moment of relief was shattered by the sudden beep from their communicators. The high-pitched sound cut through the air, pulling everyone's attention to their wrists in an instant.

Jason immediately stood up, his body shifting into leader mode. "Looks like we need to go."

The group made their way to the back of the Juice Bar, where they were out of sight from the other patrons. After a quick check around, they activated the teleport and were whisked away to the Command Center.

The familiar, sterile environment of the Command Center greeted them. Alpha 5 was already at the console, furiously tapping at the control panel as his robotic arms whirred in frustration.

"Rangers! Thank goodness you're here!" Alpha cried, his metallic voice tinged with concern. "There's been a disturbance in the city. Rita's forces are on the move again."

Jason stepped forward, his face hardening with determination. "What's going on, Alpha? We were just at the Juice Bar. What's the emergency?"

Alpha's eyes widened behind his glasses, and he motioned to the large screen that flickered to life before them. It showed a city map; small red dots were appearing all over Angel Grove.

"Putties!" Billy muttered, recognising the pattern of the signal. "They've launched an attack all over the city."

"Yes, Rangers," Zordon's voice boomed, calm yet stern. "Rita is sending waves of Putties throughout Angel Grove. But this time, it is more than a simple distraction. This is part of a much larger plan."

Zordon's floating head appeared on the viewing screen, his deep voice resonating through the Command Center. "The Putties are designed to keep you occupied, and Rita has a more significant threat prepared for later. But first, you must deal with the Putties before they do any more damage to the city."

"Understood," Jason responded, his posture straightening as the weight of the situation began to sink in. "We'll handle the Putties. But Zordon, where's Tommy? He was supposed to be with us."

Alpha frantically checked his console, his robotic hands flying over the buttons. "I'm trying to reach him, Jason. But his communicator signal is weak. I can't get through!"

Jason's brow furrowed in concern, but there was no time to dwell on it. "Alright, let's move out. We'll take care of the Putties. Once we're in action, Alpha, try to contact Tommy again. He might be the only one who can help us with what's coming next."

The Rangers quickly teleported out, their resolve set as they prepared to face whatever Rita had thrown their way. They didn't know what to expect, but the quiet tension in the Command Center told them that this time, things were about to get worse.

====

The streets of Angel Grove had transformed into a warzone. Cars were overturned, shop windows were shattered, and streetlights were flickering in the chaos of the ongoing battle. The Rangers, fully morphed in their iconic suits, stood ready to defend their city. Jason, the Red Ranger, gripped his blade tightly as he scanned the horizon. His team was spread out around him, each preparing for the oncoming fight.

"Ready guy?" Jason asked.

"We've got this, Jase," Zack, the Black Ranger, grinned, his Power Axe raised.

Trini, the Yellow Ranger, nodded with a focused expression, her daggers gleaming in the light. Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, readied her bow, her eyes scanning the area for any movement. Billy, the Blue Ranger, nervously checked his gloves, expecting an attack at any time for anything.

And then, from the shadows, the putties emerged.

At first, they seemed like just another wave of foot-soldiers, but they were more organised than usual. Their movements were synchronized, a clear sign that they were being led with purpose. Goldar, the golden-armoured warrior, stood among them, his massive sword resting at his side, his eyes filled with disdain.

"You Rangers never learn," Goldar boomed, his voice echoing through the streets. "This city will fall, and you'll all be crushed underfoot!"

Jason stepped forward, raising his sword with a firm grip. "We'll stop you, Goldar. We always do."

The putties surged forward in a wave of aggression, their blank expressions filled with an eerie sense of purpose. The Rangers sprang into action, their combat skills honed over countless battles.

Zack and Trini formed a front line, with Zack using his Mastodon shield to deflect the oncoming attacks. He bashed through a group of putties with swift, calculated blows, his shield absorbing their strikes before knocking them back. "You guys really need to step up your game," he called out, grinning as he knocked out another putty.

Trini, on the other hand, was a blur of motion. Her daggers slashed through the air with incredible precision as she danced around the putties, taking them down one by one. Her movements were fluid, graceful, and deadly. She landed a swift kick to the chest of one putty, sending it sprawling to the ground before rolling into a defensive position to avoid another attack.

"We've got them on the ropes!" Trini shouted, keeping up the momentum.

Billy and Kimberly worked in tandem, using their skills to keep the putties at bay. Billy's mind raced as he analyzed the battle, using his intellect to outmanoeuvre the putties with quick, calculated strikes. He managed to disable several with precision moves, knowing that the longer the battle went on, the more exhausted the putties would become.

Kimberly, ever the acrobat, darted in and out of battle with effortless speed. She shot arrows from her bow, each one piercing through the hearts of the advancing putties. They crumpled to the ground with each shot, but Kimberly didn't slow down. She was fluid, never giving them a chance to regroup.

Jason's sword cut through the air, his blade flashing as it met the putties head-on. He slashed, kicked, and twirled, expertly disarming and dismantling them in a series of fluid motions. Each strike was precise, each movement calculated, as he worked with his team to whittle down the large numbers of enemies.

But despite the Rangers' skill and coordination, the putties kept coming. The sheer number of them was overwhelming, and even though they were being torn down one by one, the constant pressure was starting to wear the Rangers thin.

"We need to finish this, now!" Jason shouted as he deflected another putty's attack. He swung his sword, knocking the putty's limbs off in one clean motion. "They're like cockroaches!"

"We can do it!" Zack said, his voice filled with determination. He used his shield to bash through another group, his energy unrelenting. "We just need to outlast them!"

But as the Rangers began to gain the upper hand, Goldar moved in. His massive form, towering over the putties, approached with slow, deliberate steps. The Rangers immediately shifted their focus to him.

"Not so fast, Rangers!" Goldar bellowed, raising his sword high above his head. "Time for you to face your doom!"

Jason stepped forward, his expression hardening. "You've got a lot of nerve, Goldar," he said, his grip tight on his sword. "But we've faced worse."

"Prepare to feel my wrath!" Goldar roared as he swung his sword down toward Jason.

The Red Ranger blocked the attack with his blade, but the force of the blow pushed him back. The ground shook beneath them, causing debris to fall from nearby buildings. Goldar took advantage of the momentary shock, launching a series of devastating attacks.

The Rangers regrouped, trying to regain control of the battle. Goldar swung his sword again, narrowly missing Jason as the Red Ranger darted out of the way.

"You've been nothing but a nuisance!" Goldar shouted, his voice filled with fury.

Jason deflected the next blow, his eyes sharp as he watched the battle unfold. He knew that they needed a plan, and fast.

"Guys!" Jason shouted. "We need to finish these putties off, and fast. We can't let Goldar run wild."

"I've got this!" Zack said with a grin, using his shield to bash through another group of putties. "Let's mop up these guys!"

With that, the Rangers took the fight to the putties once again. Jason, Zack, and Trini moved in with incredible coordination, their strikes faster and more precise as they whittled down the remaining putties. Each punch, kick, and strike sent them crumbling to the ground.

Kimberly and Billy worked together, picking off the last few from a distance. Billy disabled one of the Putty Patroller's arms with a quick strike before moving in for the final blow, while Kimberly's arrows rained down, picking off the last of the enemies.

Finally, only Goldar remained. The Rangers faced him down, the battlefield littered with the broken bodies of the putties.

"Let's do this!" Jason shouted, pointing his sword at Goldar.

Goldar raised his sword, ready to strike, but just as he swung it down, he paused, sensing something. The ground rumbled beneath their feet. A familiar roar echoed through the city, loud and menacing.

The Rangers' eyes widened in shock as a shadow loomed over them. The sound was unmistakable, a roar so loud it seemed to shake the very air around them. It was the Dragonzord.

"Uh oh," Zack muttered, his eyes locked on the giant, green figure rising above the buildings.

With a terrifying crash, the Dragonzord appeared, its massive form towering over the city, casting a long shadow over the Rangers as they looked up in horror. The Zord's glowing eyes locked onto them, and it began to move, its steps shaking the earth as it readied itself for battle.

Goldar, having seen the Dragonzord's arrival, took the opportunity to teleport away, his laughter echoing in the distance.

Jason shook his head, his voice tense. "We need to get back to the Command Center and figure out what's going on."

But even as he said it, the Rangers knew the battle had just begun -- and this time, things were about to get much worse.

====

Rita's eye was fixed intently on the view from the telescope before her. The device, unlike any other, allowed her to see across vast distances, penetrating the barriers of space and time. Through it, she could observe the world in all its detail -- especially the chaos her latest plan had caused. With a twisted smile on her face, she watched the Dragonzord rampage through Angel Grove, sending shockwaves of destruction through the city.

Baboo, standing nervously beside her, scratched his head and spoke up, clearly uncertain. "Rita, are you sure this is going to work? I mean, yeah, the city's getting destroyed, but... what about the Rangers? They'll figure it out, right?"

Rita didn't take her eyes off the telescope, her voice dripping with icy disdain. "Baboo, do you have any idea how small your thinking is? Of course, they'll eventually retrieve their Zord. The Green Ranger, especially, will not be kept under my control for long. But it's not about that, is it? It's about what this does to them -- what it does to him." She paused, her smile darkening. "This will make them question him. Their faith in him will begin to fracture, and that's when I'll strike."

Squatt, ever eager to please, nodded in agreement but still looked confused. "So... you're just... breaking them apart? That's your plan?"

Rita let out a low chuckle, a cruel edge to her laughter. "You're catching on, Squatt. Yes, the Green Ranger isn't fully part of their team yet. He's still not trusted by all of them, and that's exactly what I'm going to exploit. By the time they realise that they can't trust him, I'll have him right where I want him."

Baboo scratched his head, still trying to grasp the intricacies of the plan. "But won't he fight back?"

Rita's eyes flickered to the telescope once more, her gaze narrowing as she observed the path of destruction the Dragonzord was carving through the city. "Oh, he will. But doubt will be planted. He'll start questioning himself, and when the time comes, he'll wonder who he should really be loyal to."

Her voice was filled with cold certainty as she shifted her focus from the battle to a strange, almost nostalgic glint in her eyes. "It's all about turning the Green Ranger into my ally, though. Once that happens, the Rangers will crumble. Their unity is fragile, and it's only a matter of time before they realise it."

Goldar, who had been silently observing from behind, finally spoke, his deep voice laced with curiosity. "Rita, about the Dragon Dagger... How did you manage to create it? The original was a powerful weapon."

Rita didn't even look at him as she responded, her tone sharp. "It was a simple matter, Goldar. The Green Chaos Crystal gave me the power to replicate parts of the Green Ranger's arsenal. I didn't need to ask for the original, so what I created was a close working copy. The Dragon Dagger isn't perfect, but it does exactly what I need it to. It controls the Dragonzord -- no matter who's in the cockpit."

Goldar stared at her, still unsure. "So, you've duplicated it through the Green Chaos Crystal? But how...?"

Rita turned to face him now, her eyes cold with disdain. "The Green Chaos Crystal is connected to the Green Ranger's powers. It allowed me to replicate enough of the energy needed to create this dagger. It's not exactly the same, but it works. And that's all that matters."

Squatt nodded eagerly, seemingly satisfied, while Baboo looked somewhat uncertain. "But, Rita... what if they realise what's happening? What if they figure it out before the damage is done?"

Rita let out a sigh of exasperation. "Baboo, do you ever stop thinking about the small picture? By the time they realise what's happening, it will be too late. The Green Ranger will be on my side, and by then, I'll have the perfect weapon to use against them."

Turning her gaze back to the telescope, Rita allowed herself a moment of contemplation as she watched the destruction unfold. The Green Ranger would eventually see the truth. She would make sure of it. In her mind, it was a matter of when, not if.

The sound of crumbling buildings and explosions filled the airwaves from her telescope. Rita let out a satisfied laugh, her gaze drifting toward two looming statues outside her lair -- one of herself, towering and menacing, and one even taller of the Dragonzord. She could feel the power of the Crystal coursing through her, a constant reminder that she was on the verge of achieving what she had been working toward for so long.

With a smirk, Rita spoke again, her voice low and dangerous. "And when the Green Ranger realises where his true loyalties lie, he will come to me. I'll take him for my own, and then -- then the real fun begins."

====

The Command Center hummed with activity as Alpha 5 frantically worked at the console, his hands flying over buttons in an attempt to reach Tommy. Zordon's holographic form stood stoically, his expression grave and unwavering, aware of the imminent danger posed by Scorpina's control over the Dragonzord.

"Alpha, any luck contacting Tommy?" Zordon asked, his voice calm but filled with urgency.

"I'm tryin', Zordon!" Alpha's robotic voice trembled with stress as he worked the controls. "It's hard to reach him right now. I've been tryin' to get a signal through, but -- "

Before Alpha could finish, the signal cleared, and a crackling voice came through the speakers. "This is Tommy. What's the situation?"

"Tommy!" Alpha exclaimed. "Thank goodness! Zordon needs you. Rita's forces have the Dragonzord under control, and Scorpina is tearing through Angel Grove! The Rangers can't hold out much longer. We need you now!"

Tommy's voice came through the comms, but there was a subtle hesitation in his tone. "What's going on, Alpha? Is the Dragonzord really… under Scorpina's control?"

"Yes! She's using the power of the Green Chaos Crystal!" Alpha responded urgently. "Zordon, we need him to help now!"

Zordon's voice, though calm, carried a note of hesitation. "Tommy, I sense that Rita's plan is more than just a simple attack. The theft of the Dragonzord hints at something much darker. You must be cautious."

Tommy hesitated for a long moment, his mind racing. "I understand, Zordon. But the others need me. I can't just sit here."

Zordon's hologram flickered slightly, his eyes narrowing with concern. "Tommy… I urge you to stay here and reconsider. The fact that Rita now controls the Dragonzord may indicate a much larger, more dangerous plot. We are not certain what she has planned, but I fear this may not just be a battle. She is toying with something much deeper."

Tommy gritted his teeth, his gaze fixed on the control panel in front of him. The weight of Zordon's words pressed down on him, but the thought of his friends being overwhelmed in the battle tugged at him. He couldn't sit idly by while Angel Grove was destroyed. He had to act.

"I get it, Zordon," Tommy replied, his voice thick with frustration. "But I can't just sit here. I have to do something. I'm going."

Zordon's expression darkened, his voice rising in warning. "Tommy, think carefully. Rita will try to manipulate you. You must be on guard. Do not let her influence cloud your judgement."

But before Tommy could respond, a cold, familiar voice suddenly echoed through his mind -- soft, insidious, and unmistakably malicious.

"Tommy… can you see it? The destruction? The chaos? It's all happening, just as I promised."

Tommy froze, his blood running cold as the voice filled his mind. He glanced around, but the room was empty -- no one else heard it. No one else could hear her. It was only him.

"Don't listen to Zordon," Rita's voice purred, her words slithering through his thoughts like a serpent. "He doesn't understand. He never will. You know where your true power lies. It's not with the Rangers. It's with me."

Tommy clenched his fists, his heart pounding in his chest. He could feel the weight of Rita's words press down on him like a heavy stone. He had been hearing this voice for some time now -- ever since the Dragonzord was stolen from him -- but he had kept it a secret, buried deep inside. He had pushed it down, ignored it, told himself it wasn't real. But now, standing here, he couldn't deny it any longer.

"You've always been mine, Tommy," Rita's voice continued, low and soothing. "You've always known your true purpose. This… this is where you belong. Come to me. Join me, and I'll give you everything. The Dragonzord. The power you've always wanted."

Tommy's mind raced. He couldn't let anyone know about the voice. They would never understand. They couldn't hear it, couldn't feel what he was feeling. Zordon and the others… would never understand how close he was to giving in.

He felt the temptation, the power that Rita offered. He could feel it in his very core, pulling at him, urging him to embrace it. The voice became louder, more insistent, almost like a melody in his head.

"You're strong enough now, Tommy. Stronger than any of them. Your Zord listens to you because it knows the truth of where your loyalty should be. You belong with me. Together, we'll crush them all."

Tommy shook his head, trying to block out the whispers. He gripped the edge of the console, struggling to focus. Zordon's warnings echoed in his mind, but they felt distant, drowned out by Rita's seductive voice.

"Tommy?" Alpha's voice broke through the haze. "Are you alright? We really need you."

Tommy blinked rapidly, shaking his head as if to clear the fog that had settled over him. "I'm fine, Alpha," he muttered, his voice betraying none of the turmoil he was feeling. "I'm going to help. I'll be there soon."

As he teleported out of the Command Center, a part of him wanted to stay, to listen to Zordon and to protect his friends. But another part -- darker, quieter -- urged him forward, closer to the temptation that Rita offered.

As the glow of teleportation surrounded him, Rita's voice whispered one last time in his mind. "You won't regret this, Tommy. Together, we will be unstoppable."

And with that, he was gone, leaving the Command Center behind, the weight of his decision hanging heavy on his shoulders.

====

As the Dragonzord loomed above them, its massive form casting a long, menacing shadow over the city, the Rangers quickly realised the full scale of the situation. The sheer power radiating from the Zord was palpable, and they could feel the ground tremble beneath their feet with every step the Dragonzord took.

"We need our Zords," Jason said, his voice tight with urgency as he watched the colossal beast begin to move toward them. "This thing's way too powerful for us without them."

The Rangers nodded, each knowing the battle was about to escalate to a whole new level. Goldar had been difficult enough, but the Dragonzord -- this was something entirely different. They needed their Zords to stand a chance.

"Zordon, we need our Zords!" Trini called out, tapping her communicator as the Dragonzord's roar echoed through the streets.

Seconds felt like hours as they waited for a response. Finally, Zordon's voice came through, calm yet filled with urgency.

"Rangers, I will grant you access to your Zords. Form the Megazord and prepare for battle. The Dragonzord is no ordinary foe. It has been summoned and controlled by Rita's dark magic and is under the control of her forces."

"Understood, Zordon. We're ready," Jason said, his eyes narrowing as the Dragonzord neared. "Let's do this, guys," he said. "We need Dino Zord power, now!"

As the Red Ranger's command, a series of massive mechanical roars filled the air as the Zords began to appear. The Red Tyrannosaurus, the Mastodon, the Triceratops, the Saber-tooth Tiger, and the Pterodactyl all assembled, towering above the city as they moved into position. Their robotic forms towered above the streets, their weapons primed for battle.

"Let's form the Megazord!" Jason commanded, his voice steady, though the adrenaline coursing through his veins was palpable.

The Rangers began the familiar ritual of combining their Zords, with Jason's Red Tyrannosaurus leading the charge. One by one, the Zords linked together, their mechanical parts shifting and locking into place, the sparks flying as the great Megazord took shape.

Jason's Tyrannosaurus head connected to the chest of the Megazord, forming the core of the powerful machine. Zack's Mastodon Zord locked into place on the left leg, while Trini's Saber-tooth Tiger Zord took the right. Billy's Triceratops Zord connected to the right arm, and Kimberly's Pterodactyl Zord formed the left, its wings folding back as they became part of the Megazord's form.

With a final, thunderous rumble, the Megazord stood tall, a massive and imposing figure. Its glowing eyes surveyed the battlefield, ready to face the Dragonzord. The Rangers, now inside the cockpit, immediately felt the rush of power and unity.

"Megazord Activated!" came the computerised voice as the formation finished.

The battle had begun.

The Megazord moved forward, the ground shaking beneath its feet as it approached the Dragonzord. The massive green Zord let out a thunderous roar as it swiped its tail, sending debris flying. It locked its glowing eyes on the Megazord, and the battle commenced.

Jason's voice rang out through the cockpit. "Move in! Let's take the fight to it!"

The Megazord charged, its powerful legs driving it forward. It swung its sword, slashing at the Dragonzord, but the Dragonzord was quick to react. It raised its massive tail and swiped at the Megazord, knocking it off balance.

The Megazord stumbled, but it quickly regained its footing. Kimberly's voice rang through the cockpit, her eyes locked on the Dragonzord. "It's fast. We need to be quicker!"

The Megazord swung again, its sword cutting through the air, but the Dragonzord dodged with ease, its massive claws and tail swiping at the Megazord in an effort to gain the upper hand.

Zack gritted his teeth, his voice focused. "Watch out, Jason! That tail's got a lot of power behind it!"

Jason nodded, pushing the Megazord forward, swinging its sword in a wide arc. But before he could land a blow, the Dragonzord's tail whipped out again, this time catching the Megazord in the side. The tail struck with tremendous force, and the Megazord was sent flying through the air, crashing into a nearby building.

The city around them seemed to tremble as the building crumbled under the impact, dust and debris filling the air.

"Uh, that's not good," Zack muttered, watching as the Megazord struggled to regain its footing.

The Megazord slowly stood up, its massive frame shaking from the force of the impact. The Rangers inside were jolted, but they quickly recovered, their eyes focused on the battle ahead.

"That Dragonzord's no joke," Billy said, analyzing the situation. "We need to focus on its weak points. Let's stay on our toes."

Jason clenched his fists, the anger in his voice clear. "We can't let it get the better of us. We'll find a way to take it down. Megazord, move!"

The Megazord stood tall again, its massive sword at the ready. It charged forward, bracing for another round, but the Dragonzord wasn't done yet. It let out another deafening roar, its tail raised high above its head as it prepared to strike again.

The Megazord stepped back, but it was too late.

With an explosive crack, the Dragonzord's tail swiped down once more, knocking the Megazord into the air. The force was enough to send it crashing into another building, and the city trembled under the impact.

The Rangers braced for more damage, their faces set with determination. They were up against an overwhelming force, but they had no intention of backing down.

This battle was far from over.

====

Tommy materialised above the chaos of the battlefield, where the Rangers were struggling to hold their own against Scorpina-controlled Dragonzord. The city was in ruins. Buildings were crumbling, fires raged, and the sounds of destruction echoed through the streets.

He watched as Scorpina, with a vicious grin on her face, guided the Dragonzord in its destructive rampage. The Dragonzord was tearing through the city like a weapon of mass destruction, its massive claws crashing into buildings, sending debris flying.

The Rangers were doing their best in the Megazord, but it was clear they were being overpowered. The Dragonzord was a force of nature -- its raw power amplified by Scorpina's ruthless style of combat. Every punch, every kick, was delivered with brutal precision.

Tommy's heart pounded in his chest as he watched the destruction unfold. He had to act, and he had to act fast. But as he stood on the rooftop, watching the destruction below, Rita's voice crept back into his mind.

"They can't save you, Tommy. You already know where your true strength lies. Come back to me. Help me finish this."

He swallowed hard, gripping his Dragon Dagger tightly, and finally, he knew what he had to do. It wasn't the Megazord or the other Rangers that could stop Scorpina -- it was him. He couldn't let her control the Dragonzord any longer.

Tommy raised the Dragon Dagger high, his mind focused, and he began to play the familiar melody that only he could play, the call of the Dragonzord. The music echoed across the battlefield, piercing the chaos.

For a moment, Scorpina faltered. The Dragonzord's movements grew erratic as Tommy's melody reached its peak. The connection between Scorpina and the Zord was broken, even if just for a moment. In that instant, Tommy teleported inside the Dragonzord's cockpit, standing face-to-face with Scorpina.

She snarled at him, fury in her eyes. "You think you can stop me, Tommy? You think you can take control back from me?"

Tommy stood tall, unwavering. "I'm not going to let you hurt my friends or my city, Scorpina. Ever!"

The two locked eyes -- Scorpina with her sneer of superiority, and Tommy with his resolve. For just a brief moment, Tommy's mind cleared. He was in control now. And with that, the Dragonzord roared, as if acknowledging its true master once again.

Scorpina, seeing she had lost control, let out a furious scream as she was forced to retreat, her plans unravelling before her. Tommy was back in the driver's seat -- and for the first time in a long while, the Green Ranger had control.

Goldar and Scorpina knelt before Rita, their heads bowed. Behind them, the Green Chaos Crystal hovered ominously on its pedestal, glowing faintly with an otherworldly energy. Despite their failure to destroy the Rangers, Rita's expression was one of surprising calm.

"I expected punishment," Goldar growled, his voice tinged with unease. "We failed to crush the Rangers."

Scorpina, keeping her gaze low, added, "The Dragonzord caused extensive damage to Angel Grove. We achieved that much, but the Rangers regained control of it before we could finish them."

Rita waved a dismissive hand, rising from her throne. "Oh, relax, both of you. Did you think I didn't anticipate this outcome?" She sauntered toward the glowing crystal, her staff clicking against the cold stone floor. "The chaos was never the endgame -- it was the means to an end."

Goldar glanced at Scorpina, confused but not daring to question her. "What do you mean, Empress?"

Rita gestured at the Green Chaos Crystal. "This little gem thrives on destruction, pain, and conflict. The Dragonzord's rampage charged it with all the energy I needed. Every swing of its tail, every crushed building, every frightened scream -- it all fed the crystal."

Scorpina looked up, frowning. "So… the damage was just a distraction?"

"Exactly," Rita confirmed with a wicked grin. "The Rangers think they've won. Let them think that. Meanwhile, I've secured what I really needed." Her gaze turned dark, her voice dripping with malice. "The Green Chaos Crystal is now more powerful than ever. And with it, the Green Ranger will be mine."

Goldar stiffened. "You still think the Green Ranger can be turned? He fights against you every step of the way!"

Rita cackled wickedly. "Oh, Goldar, you underestimate the power of doubt. The Green Ranger is still new to the team. His friends don't entirely trust him yet, and deep down, he knows it. That little seed of insecurity will grow, and when the time comes, he'll see that his true loyalty belongs with me."

Scorpina smirked. "And what about the Rangers' reputation? The damage to the city was significant. The people won't forget the destruction caused by their own Zord."

"Precisely," Rita said, spinning around dramatically. "Angel Grove's precious heroes failed to stop the chaos before it started. The city is questioning their ability to protect it. And as for Tommy…" Her grin widened. "He'll question himself even more."

Goldar bowed his head. "Then the mission was a success."

"It was a good start," came a voice from the shadows, smooth and unsettling.

Rita froze for a moment, then composed herself, her eyes scanning the dark corners of the room. Her minions exchanged uneasy glances but said nothing.

From the darkness, the voice continued, "The Rangers' time is coming to an end. They just don't realise it yet."

Rita tilted her head, addressing the unseen speaker with a mixture of curiosity and confidence. "What's next, then? You've been awfully quiet until now."

The voice chuckled. "Soon, Rita. Soon, I'll show you a Dragonzord that will never turn on you. And the Rangers will no longer be your problem."

The room fell silent, the tension hanging thick in the air. Goldar and Scorpina shifted uncomfortably, unsure of what they had just witnessed.

Rita finally broke the silence, dismissing her minions with a wave of her hand. "Go. Take this time to relax or train... whatever you want. I'll have need of you again soon."

As they left, she turned back to the crystal, her fingers brushing its surface as she whispered, "The Rangers will fall. One way or another, they'll fall."

And in a far away place another figure lounged back upon his throne please with the way that events were playing out. In the end it didn't matter if Rita succeeded or not, so long as events followed their proper course. And when the unknowing actors had performed their parts, he would show them why they were all wrong.
